Father Knows Best Debut - January 7th at 9pm on 88.1 FM

We are happy to welcome the Father Knows Best show with Father Mark Stoll to the program line-up on Siouxland Catholic Radio. We got a chance to interview him about the genesis of the show and what you can expect on the debut tonight.

What compelled you do start the show?

The idea for the show came from a listener and supporter of Siouxland Catholic Radio was a guest on the Spring 2025 Pledge Drive who suggested to Joanne Fox that we ought to have a local question/answer show.

Joanne, of course, took this idea to the Board last spring. From the start, we knew that we could not do a live call in question/answer show due to lack of staff and the necessary equipment to do this. Thus, the idea from the start that this would be a pre-recorded show with questions coming from our listeners via email, mail, and during our pledge drives.

By early summer 2025, I was nominated to host the show.

Ideas were suggested and discussed about the name of the show with the name FATHER KNOWS BEST rising to the top and being selected.

I then developed the structure of the show including creating the opening and closing theme music, logo, Facebook page, email address, promos, and collection of questions from Fall Pledge Drive listeners, volunteers, and staff of Siouxland Catholic Radio.

The first episode was recorded on November 19, 2025, which will air Wednesday January 7, 9:00 pm answering two questions we received during the Fall Pledge 2025 Drive regarding AI and the position of the hands of the laity during the Lord's Prayer during Mass.

What impact you hope the show will have? 

I hope this will help engage our Siouxland Catholic Radio listeners to address questions they have and help us to discover, learn, and engage our hearts, souls, and minds so we may be illuminated, informed, and inspired.

Why it's an important addition to the line-up?

Siouxland Catholic Radio does provide the national EWTN programming. Yet, as a local Catholic Radio Station, it is important to address the local needs of the Siouxland area. One way we do this is creating local shows such as FAITH IN ACTION, DRAW NEAR, DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET, and other broadcasts such as covering Bishop Heelan High School. And with the conclusion of two other local program, SYMBOLS OF SERVICE and OUTCAST CATHOLIC, Siouxland Catholic Radio was left with a couple of openings for local programs. One of those spots is being filled by LIFE PLAN produced by Spirit Catholic Radio. And with the request of one of our local listeners and supporters that we produce a local question and answer show, the Siouxland Catholic Radio Board and staff believe this new show fulfills a need of our listeners.
