Catholic Answers' Trent Horn explained two years why he believes nativity scenes are a great evangelization tool.
The first nativity scene dates back to 1223. In Pope Francis' apostolic letter on the subject called Admirabile signum, he stated, “Fifteen days before Christmas, Francis (St. Francis of Assisi) asked a local man named John to help him realize his desire to, ‘Bring to life the memory of that babe born in Bethlehem, to see as much as possible with my own bodily eyes the discomfort of His infant needs, how He lay in a manger, and how, with an ox and an ass standing by, He was laid upon a bed of hay’.”
In today's secular society, Trent stated the nativity helps ties us back to the birth of Christ. The nativity invites conversations and engagement between those focused on Santa and the love of Christ.*
This Advent, Siouxland Catholic Radio is pleased to present several Christmas nativity videos created by photographer, Jerry L. Mennenga, from 2014-2018/9. As you view the nativities and listen to the narration and/or music, we hope they will bring you closer to Christ.
