SECOND ANNUAL
JURIED YOUTH ART FESTIVAL

Theme: St. Gabriel and the Angels as Messengers*

Who:  1st – 12th grade students (Enrolled in a Catholic school or a Catholic student enrolled in a public or home school in the Tri-State area.)

           

What:  Students will create a visual arts submission (using the media of their choice except for photography) in keeping with this year’s theme.

 

Quantity:  There are no limits as to the number of entries submitted by each school and/or parish.

Adjudicators:  Esteemed Siouxland artists will evaluate the students’ artwork based on creativity, originality, theme, and excellence.

 

Submissions Deadline: March 22, 2023, at 4 p.m. (No exceptions)

Winners: 

  • Placings: 

    • First, Second, and Third Place winners will be announced in each grade level.

      • Each of the winners will receive a $10 gift certificate to Pizza Ranch. 

      • The 1st Place Winner’s artwork in each grade will be featured in the 2024 2nd Annual Juried Youth Art Festival Calendar.

    • Curators’ Choice: 

      • The winner will receive $50, a gift certificate to Pizza Ranch, his/her artwork featured in the 2024 Juried Youth Art Festival calendar, AND...

      • A free 1-hour private art session by one of the adjudicators.    

    • Viewers’ Choice: 

      • Viewers can vote during the Art Festival at the station.  One vote per viewer.

      • The winner will be announced on-air on April 21.

      • The Viewer's Choice will receive gift certificate to Pizza Ranch and have his/her artwork featured in the 2024 2nd Annual Juried Youth Art Festival Calendar. 

 

  • A reception for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners in each grade (except for the Viewers’ Choice), their parents/guardians, siblings, teachers, school administrators, and/or judges will be held on April 13, during the pledge drive from 3:30-5 p.m. (Note new time this year). 

  • The 1st Place winners, their parent/s and/or guardian/s, and judges will be guests during Thursday’s Pledge Drive. Guests will be notified in advance as to their assigned time slot. The pledge drive can be heard on-air (88.1 FM) and watched via the station’s YouTube Channel.

  • Submissions may be mailed or dropped off:

    • Location: Siouxland Catholic Radio's office, 701 West 5th Street, Sioux City, Iowa 51103

    • Dates: March 1- 22, 2023

    • Office Hours: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
