Siouxland Catholic Radio, 88.1 FM, and Holy Cross Catholic Parish – Sioux City are excited to host Father Carlos Martins and the Treasures of the Church on Sunday, June 26 at 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Parish - Blessed Sacrament Church, 3012 Jackson Street, Sioux City, Iowa.

Renowned expert, Father Carlos Martins, will present a teaching and exposition of an extraordinary Vatican collection of Sacred Relics.

Over 150 relics (see attached) will be present, some as old as 2,000 years.  Among the treasures will be relics of the Twelves Apostles, St. Joseph, St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Faustina Kowalska, Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney, and Blessed Carlo Acutis.  There will also be a portion of the Veil of Our Lady and one of the largest remaining pieces of the True Cross.

Attendees will be able to examine and venerate each relic. (See also place cards for various relics.)

Throughout history, many healings have occurred in the presence of relics, and many have happened through this ministry.

Special Plenary Indulgence from Pope Francis:

The Holy Father has issued a special plenary indulgence for all attendees of a Treasures of the Church exposition.

The indulgence is granted under the usual conditions:

  1. Prayer for the Holy Father and for his intentions (Father Carlos will lead these on the day of the exposition).

  2. Reception of Sacramental Confession within 20 days of attending the exposition.

  3. Reception of The Holy Eucharist within 20 days of attending the exposition.

  4. Complete detachment from all sin, even venial.

Bring your articles of devotion (such as rosaries, holy cards, etc.) and pictures of ill friends/family members, which you will be able to touch to the reliquaries as a means of intercession

Fr. Carlos Martins was recently interviewed by Fr. Mitch Pacwa on EWTN Live, discussing how God uses sacred relics from the saints to work healing and miracles, drawing our attention to them as “models and intercessors.” View the video below.
